Patrick Chukwuma Achebe is the author of the two published books on poetry and prose: Sacrifice and The Face of Tomorrow. AFRIPOL’s Emeka Chiakwelu spoke to the author on his new books and endeavors.
AFRIPOL: Good day Mr. Achebe it is a pleasure to speak to you. Tell us about yourself, background and profile?
ACHEBE (ANSWER): My name is Patrick Chukwuma Achebe. I was born in Nigeria, I came to United States of America in the eighties. I have double degrees in Architecture and Construction from Tuskegee Institute, in Alabama in 1990. In 1990 to 1997, I worked with STS Consultant in Northbrook Illinois. In 1998 to 2017, I was the owner and the CEO of kc builders Inc. based in Chicago Illinois. In 2018 to now, I am a full time author and a motivational Speaker.
Question: Mr. Achebe your new books must probably have a genesis rooted in your life activities. What was your motivation to write books on poetry? Does the titles of the two the books signify anything meaningful to you or just impromptu imagination? Tell us about the books?
ACHEBE : SACRIFICE, The Ultimate Beacon:
I had challenges in college that took a lot out of me . But I quickly recovered from them, and I became a better person, after reading few self-help books. It was magical, as if the books were written for me. It felt like I discovered a new life. I became happier, more confident and determined in everything that I did. I promised myself that I will write a book that will teach many people that power of success is hidden in each and everyone of us. If we give up our fears. To overcome my challenges, I had to recognize that I was holding on to an enemy, fear. As soon as I sacrificed it, I became fearless and healthy thoughts started streaming into my veins and my head.
That’s how I picked up sacrifice as the title of my book. As I researched for broader meaning of sacrifice, I realized that the word embraces everything that takes us forward.
The Face of Tomorrow:
The title is simply born out of one of the poems in the book, called The Face of Tomorrow. The poem tries to tell the readers that today is what gives birth to tomorrow. We are the change that changes for change to change. In other words, you must change to have a change.

Question: How do you think the readers will react to the Books?
ACHEBE: What makes my writing very palatable, is that I write to connect with the emotions of my readers. That’s why when people that know me read my books they are surprised by how deep I connect their innerself. Some would say, it’s seams like I am talking to them. I believe that my readers will continue to enjoy my books and would want more of my work.
Question: What do we expect from you in near future? More books – poetry, play, novel or what?
ACHEBE: I have committed my last journey on earth to writing and speaking motivational, because that’s where I find joy and solace. I pray that writing is a my place of Calling. If I can change one person’s life with words, then my mission is accomplished.
During the COVID-19, I wrote a book that s almost done. I hope that one day before the end of the year 2023, it will be published.
Thanks.
AFRIPOL: You are welcomed. It was great speaking to you.
