FAKE NEWS: $20m Anambra investment in Sabmiller group

APGA debunks assassination attempt on Soludo

The government of Anambra State, led by Governor Prof. Chukwuma Soludo has issued a press release through the Chief Press Secretary, Mr Christian Aburime to debunk the fake news on the report trending on the social media of an alleged $20m Anambra State investment in Sabmiller Group. It was stated on the fake news that the former Governor Peter Obi invested $20 million on behalf of the Anambra state in Sabmiller Group and that the investment  is currently  worth 100 million dollars and that Anambra state owns the highest share in the company as “untrue”.

According to the press release titled, ‘RE: 20 MILLION DOLLARS ANAMBRA STATE INVESTMENT IN SABMILLER GROUP’, signed by the Chief Press be Secretary to the governor, Christan Aburime, “the above news trending online in some social media handles, alleging that Anambra State Governor, Prof Chukwuma Charles Soludo announced today; 29-04-2022, that the 20 million dollars which former Governor of Anambra State, Mr Peter Obi invested on behalf of Anambra State in Sabmiller Group is now worth 100 million dollars.

“The writer further claimed that from today; 29-04-2022, Anambra State now owns the highest share in the global company. “This is to notify the Public that the statement allegedly credited to Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo is completely false. The Governor never made or issued any statement to that effect.”

The press release asked the public to absolutely disregard the alleged statement as “untrue” and false.
