
After Morocco stunning and historic victory over Spain, Sofaine Boufal a member of the winning team and the former Southampton winger forget to acknowledge Africans. Boufal has earlier said “Thanks to all Moroccans all over the world for their support, to all Arab people, and to all Muslim people,.” For that omission he has apologized to Africa and Africans. He posted on his Instagram page: “Sorry for forgetting to mention ALL of Africa. Thanks for supporting us. I also dedicate the victory to you of course”. His behavior has put into question the identity of Morocco as an African country with Arab culture. Is Morocco Arab or African? Or is it both?

Morocco’s Coach, Walid Regragui is with Africa
But Morocco’s Coach, Walid Regragui, did not agree with Boufal. He said in an interview that he hopes to fly the flag of African soccer high. He said that after questioning if Morocco is playing for the Arab world. “I am not here to be a politician. We want to fly Africa’s flag high just like Senegal, Ghana, and Cameroon. We are here to represent Africa.”

Morocco has become the fourth African nation in the history of the World Cup to qualify for the quarter-final.
