Olusegun Obasanjo, former president of Nigeria has issued a clarion call to Nigerian youths to take power away from old, corrupt and worn out leaders before they destroy their future.
Speaking during an interview with Segun Odegbami, on Eagle7 Sports programme 103.7 FM, Obasanjo advised country’s youth to seize the opportunity and reject those calling them “leaders of tomorrow.”
Obasanjo said, “My advice for Nigerian youths is that they should never let anybody tell them that you are the leaders of tomorrow. If you wait for tomorrow before you take over leadership, that tomorrow may not come. They will destroy it. This is the time the youth should get up and make it happen.”
Obasanjo has been an advocate of the youthful Nigerian population being responsible and rising to the challenge of good governance and sound leadership. He was 39 years old when he became Nigerian Military Head of State.
