PhotoNews: Zik Prize Awards Ceremony

July 29, 2013 by Admin Leave a Comment

Zik of Africa

“The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Aminu Tambuwal, Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi and five others who all received  this year’s Zik Prize in Leadership have called on citizens to renew hope in the Nigerian project.

They stressed that building a new Nigeria of the citizens’ dream required that all stakeholders, regardless of their political leanings, work together in unity.

The  recipients were honoured at an event held at the Civic Centre, Victoria Island, weekend.

They included Governor Fayemi,  Kano State Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, Delta State Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan, the Managing Director of Fidelity Bank, Mr Reginald Ihejiahi and chairman of the Nigerian Population Commission (NPC), Chief Festus Odumegwu.

Speaking on behalf of the recipients, Governor Fayemi said that the zeal and impetus for Nigerians “to trust one another, dream together, work together and succeed together in building the Nigeria of our aspirations will come when the hearts of citizens beat together in patriotic rhythm.” He added that when one considers the foresight of the first Nigerian President, Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe, with other patriots in pursuance of the nation’s greatness, there was a tendency to despair as one reflects on the trajectory that Nigeria has been through.” – Leadership Newspaper
