Nigerian Newspaper ‘Leadership News” awarded the former presidential candidate in 2023 election as ‘The Politician of the Year’. Accepting the award Obi thanked the leadership Newspaper and insisted that he was not desperate to be the president of Nigeria. His words, âI am not desperate to be president, I am desperate to make Nigeria work,â Obi stated while adding that young Nigerians should be productively engaged in order to eliminate poverty and crime.â
Speaking on poverty and on the food donation to Nigeria by Ukraine, Obi said, âWe have no reasons to be poor. Poverty should never be part of our lives especially in the North,â Obi said, adding that with over 7,442,00 square meters of land, Nigeria can feed Africa. âUkraine has no reason to give us grain. Niger State can feed Nigeria, Africa with over 73, 000 square meters of land.
âThe two biggest states in the North-East, Borno with over 70,000 square metres of land and Taraba, are four times the size of Belgium that is exporting food. There is so much we can do in the country if we have the right leadership. The more you remove people out of poverty, the more you have fewer criminals,â he concluded.
Mazi Peter and Paul says
My goodness. Awarding Politician of the Year is a mockery for PO and a total disgrace to Nigerian people and their pursuit for democracy. . What a shame. To me PO is rather is and will remain The People’s Leader of the Year. The way we see politicians of today’s world. The are cheaters and liars. PO is not of such. To me Tunibu is the politician/best cheater/liar/gangster of the year. Also if politicians (as seen in Nigeria) are deceivers. PO is none of such.
