The picture dubbed “The New Nigeria” taken by Esther Umoh on Peter Obi’s arrival for Orile Iganmu Axis Lagos campaign that went viral has been listed for sale at OpenSea (NFT Marketplace) without the consent of the photographer.
“Esther Umoh, a photographer and poet, shot the viral photo of Mr Obi in Lagos. Some unknown person had, however, fraudulently put up the photo for sale at $767.11 price on OpenSea, despite the photo bearing the word “pendrops”, which is Esther’s trademark. The photo is captioned The New Nigeria in the marketplace and would remain on sale for 27 days, till 11 March.”
Expressing her unbelief of the fraudulent deed, the photographer Esther Umoh said, “Putting up my work on @opensea without my permission is really not a great thing to do. I don’t know who this person is,” Esther said on Twitter, Sunday afternoon.”
The young man standing in front of Obi’s motor convoy and welcoming him to Lagos is Yusuf Alimi.
Putting up my work on @opensea without my permission is really not a great thing to do. I don’t know who this person is. Out of 7 siblings, 4 are lawyers. Please act responsibly. I don’t like wahala. pic.twitter.com/O4tRovIdKS— Esther Umoh (@EstherUmoh10) February 12, 2023
Yusuf Alimi’s life has changed for the better because he was at the right place at the right time. May your feet take you to where blessings will locate you. pic.twitter.com/io6qlw0bqv— Tunde Ososanya (@TundeOsosanya) February 12, 2023
